Have Blog, Need Stat Counter
UPDATE: Neocounter from neoworx.net is installed on a trial basis.
UPDATE2: Dakota suggested using StatCounter. It is better in almost every way, so I switched yet again.
My last post really kicked up some dust! One of the many valuable things I learned is that my previous page stats provider is now pushing popups. Popups suck worse than QT player :P
So, um, does anyone know of a free stat counter service that is unobtrusive and light and doesn't do banners, popups/unders and whatnot? Simple = good.
Oh, and I finally found an elegant piece of javascript that rewrites all external links in this page the moment you load it in your browser so they open in a popup and internal links in the same window. So this blog is a little less broken. One step at a time. I also temporarily removed some especially slow-loading pieces of content so I hope the page loads a little faster.

Hi,
I use StatCounter. It’s free, it’s simple and it works for me.
But you might have a different opinion.
For more info check the site: http://www.statcounter.com/
Hey Dakota,
thanks for the statcounter link. It's much more advanced than that neocounter. I've switched accordingly :)
Glad, I could be of assistance! :)
I've been using sitemeter and its been decent for me. I have it on both my blogs and my grad studies pages. Its been easy enough to modify so that it isn't visible (well, not easily found) and I've found it worth while.
But if you've already got one, stick with what you like.
Congrats of pissing off the Orange/Tangerine/whatever fruit you like people. I'm with you in the shoving of iTunes upon people. I'm using it as well (its the only piece of mac software I actually find useful) but I want a choice. Its Apple filling their job as 'Big Brother will satisfy all your needs' role...
I use both Statcounter and Sitemeter, b/c nothing seems to give me everything I want. Google Analytics is something new, but it hasn't started working for me yet. I'm surprised that you didn't have a reliable one yet...
